With the development of optical fiber communication, the application of optical fiber is becoming more and more extensive, and there are many choices of related products on the market. In addition to some specific specifications and parameters, a good supplier is also important when choosing optical fiber. The following lists a selection guide for optical fiber lines, hoping to help you solve some confusion about optical fiber line selection.
Check manufacturer qualification
Production enterprises should obtain ISO9001 quality system certification, ISO4001 international environmental system certification, ROHS, Ministry of Information Industry and other relevant national and international institutions certification, UL certification, etc.
Fiber type: single mode or multimode
In the above content, we have also made a brief introduction to single-mode fiber and multimode fiber. Single-mode fiber is usually used for long distances, while multimode fiber is usually used for short distances. In addition, system costs and installation costs vary depending on the type of fiber.
Fiber optic connectors: LC, SC, ST, FC, MPO/MTP
There are many kinds of optical fiber connectors, the most commonly used ones include LC, SC, ST, FC, MPO/MTP, of which LC is mostly connected to SFP optical modules, which are made of modular jack (RJ) latch mechanism with convenient operation. SC is generally used to connect GBIC optical modules. The shell is rectangular, and the fastening method is plug-in pin latch type without rotation. FC external reinforcement is made of metal sleeve, the fastening method is turnbuckle, which is generally used on the ODF side; ST is commonly used in optical fiber distribution frames, the shell is round, and the fastening method is turnbuckle; MPO/MTP is a multi-core optical fiber connector type, often used for high density, High-speed transmission.
Fiber Jacket: OFNP, OFNR or LSZH
OFNP(Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum),NEC standard flame retardant level (booster level), the highest level. Assuming that the fan is forced to blow the flame to a bundle of flame retardant (booster) optical fiber cables, the flame on the optical fiber cables will be extinguished within 5m, and non-toxic and non-corrosive gas will be generated.
OFNR(Optical Fiber Non-conductive Riser), vertical level (trunk level) in NEC standard, ranks second. The same fan is used to force the flame to the bundle of trunk grade fiber optic cables. Although the flame will extinguish itself within 5m, it has no smoke or toxicity specifications.
LSZH(Low Smoke Zero Halogen) is low smoke and halogen-free. It has very little smoke and is non-toxic when it is on fire. Therefore, before selecting a fiber jacket type, be sure to refer to your local fire code to clarify installation requirements.
